 AVAILABLE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2001

Captain Scarlet video tapes, from Carlton International. In this edition, the tapes follow the original airing order of the series… And this time, no compilation. The episodes are completed, with no missing scenes, fully remastered. This new series of tapes was scheduled to coincide with the release of the DVD discs, which carries  the same cover artwork.

The content and availability of each tape appear below each image. Note that the box set, containing the eight tapes with all the episodes, also includes a bonus documentary tape produced by Gerry Anderson. The box set is still available.  Separate tapes might be available through private sellers at Amazon, or on auction sites, like eBay.

POLYGRAM / CHANNEL 5 OLD EDITION

Presented in 8 volumes, from ITC Intertainment, there are three sets of Captain Scarlet videos series produced in Pal: one series is marked "Channel 5". The two others are from Polygram . The tapes from the first set are offered for individual sell, while the second is a complete box set, featuring a slightly different art cover than the first, and the spines of all the video form four portraits of some of the series "stars". The three series have the same contain.

Each tape contains 4 episodes, except volume 3, containing 3 episodes, and volume 8, containing 5.

The order of the episodes are not the same as originally presented on TV. The first two volumes are compilation of chosen episodes of the series, to produce a “movie version”, so to speak. Volume 1 compiles the episode of the lunar mission trilogy, plus the episode “Shadow of Fear”. Strangely, it is in Volume 2 that we found the pilot episode, along with its direct follow up, “Winged Assassin”. This volume has been somewhat modified, in regard of the last scenes of the pilot episode , “Winged Assassin” … and particularly “Attack on Cloudbase”. While it was clearly demonstrated in the last scenes of this episode during the TV series that it was indeed all a dream from Symphony Angel, it is not the case here. I, for one, prefer the original TV version of this story..

THE BOXSET VERSION

With a slightly different cover artwork from the other version, the spine of each tapes also features a special artwork, forming four portaits of four of the cast characters: volumes 1 and 2 form Colonel White; 3 and 4, Destiny Angel; 5 and 6, Captain Black; 7 and 8, Captain Scarlet himself.

Captain Scarlet & the Mysterons/Thunderbirds 2086 From Pocket Money Video. Contained in this video are one Captain Scarlet episode “Spectrum Strikes back”, and two episodes of the Japanese series “Thunderbirds 2086”, entitled “Fire Ball” and “Computer Madness” . Running time: 60 minutes.
Stingray/Captain Scarlet & the Mysterons From ITC Entertainment. This video contains one Stingray episode, "Trapped in the Depths" and one Captain Scarlet episode: "Place of Angels" Running time: 50 minutes.
Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars FHE Release in both PAL and NTSC format (and obviously, in Betamax too). Compilation of “Shadow of Fear”, “Lunarville 7”, “Crater 101” and ”Dangerous Rendezvous” (same as Volume 1 of the Channel 5 videos).
Captain Scarlet VS the Mysterons FHE Release in both PAL and NTSC format. Compilation of “The Mysterons”, “Winged Assassin”, “Seek and Destroy” and “Attack on Cloudbase” (same as Volume 2 of the Channel 5 videos). Running time: 105 minutes.
Captain Scarlet VS the Mysterons From Emotion A Japanese released of the “movie” of the same title. In original English language, with Japanese subtitles. Plays on NTSC system.
