RON EMBLETON

The artist who drew those wonderful action panels for the end credits of the television series, Ron Embleton (Ronald Sydney Embleton (1931-1988), has also drawn the early Captain Scarlet comic strips and Stringray strips.  Within his non-related arts, he was the artist of "The Trigan Empire", "Oh, Wicked Wanda!",  "Sweet Chastity", "Wrath of the Gods" (with a text by Michael Moorcock), and was the illustrator for couple of Roman military books.

Ron Embleton was also the artist for the poster of the  Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons bubble gum cards, which was released in 1968.  While one side of each cards carries an drawn action scene or photography from the television series, the other side had a piece of the Embleton poster.  The complete set works like a puzzle for the illustration.  The poster was also available in a whole.

COMIC STRIP SAMPLES

To view a sample of Ron Embleton's beautiful drawings, just click on the following miniatures. Aside from the poster, about all of them come from the first and second strips drawn by the master.  Those are just some samples I have put  to demonstrate the extend of Embleton's art.   If you have other such samples and want to share them with people -  I am actually looking for arts from Mike Noble and Frank Bellamy - feel free to communicate with me.  Be aware, though, that I WON'T PUBLISH entire comic strips... It would not be fair for writers,  artists, publishers, merchants, etc.  This is just an information page.

Enjoy!

END CREDITS PANELS

Courtesy of Talia Gray (RhapsodyAngel8), I now am able to present to you better and clearer copies of the panels from the show's end credits!Click on any of the pictures to have a full view of each panel.

The original paintings for these panels, previously owned by producer Reg Hill,  were sold some years ago during the TV Generation sale at Christie's.  Images from those paintings were then available to download to your computer.  If you missed the opportunity, and although you still can find pictures of these paintings with a simple search on the net, the Spectrum Headquarters is offering them here - a much clearer, better copy of each of the panels, from very good scans of the 2003 Captain Scarlet Calendar, which featured all of them, in bright colours.

Note that FANDERSON at a time offered a full set of ten overgrown cards (each of them twice  the size of a regular trading card), featuring each one of the ten original paintings from  Ron Embleton. At the time, you had to be a member to buy them - or  know a member who will get them for you. (Thanks to the friend who had sent them to me.  They are really priceless!).  Although a quick search on the Fanderson website didn't permit me to find these cards, it is possibly that you can acquire them through the internet, on such sites as eBay.
