3. Pressurized plasti-glass chute. The elevator from the Amber Room takes the Angel pilots to their crafts through these chute, which extend up through the flight deck and lock on to the entrance hatches located in the base of the jets.

4. Angel One catapult. When a launch alert is given by Lieutenant Green, the engines of Angel One are automatically fired up, and the catapult hurled the jet toward the sky. 

5. Angel One flight deck hatch.  Access to it - from the Amber Room - is made by the same elevator chute used for Angels One and Two.

Elevator chute for Angels One, Two and Three.  Upon Lieutenant Green's order to take-off, the on-duty pilots for Angels Two and Three take their seats in the elevator.  A glass shield slides shut to form a pressure seal, and the elevator takes the two pilots towards an airlock on the next level.

AMBER ROOM

The Angel pilots duty station - the Amber Room - so-called because of its colour - is situated at the far end of Deck E.  It has a unique rounded design, and is one of the rare Cloudbase rooms to sport a large bay window. It contains a quantity of entertainment equipment which helps pass the time between alerts.  The five Angel pilots work continuous four-hours shifts, each of them taking her turn as Angel Leader - stationing in Angel One, who must be manned at all time, ready for immediate take-off.  During change-overs, a red light on Lieutenant Green's console in the Control Room will flash if Angel One is unmanned for more than sixty seconds.  Two other pilots will wait order to take-off in the Amber Room, while the two remaining ones will be off-duty.

Two pilots are taken to Angels 2 and 3

Note the glass casing surrounding each of them.  It had came into place seconds before the arrival of the pilots, to form a protective pressure seal in-between their craft and the access tube. As soon as the pilot in ready at her helm, the casing slid down, permitting the Angel immediate take-off.

A rare occurence:  the five Angel pilots reunited and in uniform  in the Amber Room.

The Aircraft repair bay, situated bellow flight deck (11).  The Angel Interceptors have their own entire team of mechanics, working on permanent regular shifts, while another team takes care of the rest of Cloudbase flight (SPJ, Magnacopter, helicopters).

LANDING MANOEUVRE: This seemingly dangerous landing manoeuvre is in fact safer (given a very high degree of piloting skill) than trying to put down a (supersonic 3,000 mph) fighter on a sort flight deck. It involves putting the aircraft in a stall, close to a huge flap - (2) on the cutaway above -  attached to Cloudbase upper deck. This reduces flying speed, but momentum still carries the aircraft forward in a tail-down position till it contacts the flap, whereupon clamps engage and the flap is lowered to the horizontal position. This manoeuvre has to be performed with only 1 ft tolerance each way, so great skill is called for.
