SPECTRUM UNIFORMS AND CLOTHING
|
|||
Each of Spectrum colour-coded officers, such as the field agents of higher ranks (Captains, Lieutenants), commanding staff and Cloudbase staff members (such as Captain Scarlet, Colonel White, Lieutenant Green, etc.) wears a uniform with the colour of his codename. For most colour-coded officers, the uniform is combat-gear, often worn whenever on duty. Despite having a codename, Doctor Gold generally wears a grey and gold jacket over what looks like a 'regular staff uniform'. |

Jacket, bodysuit and combat boots The personalised colour-coded armoured jacket is made of a fibre-reinforced composite. It is light to wear, but very tough. Its surface mesh can disperse the energy generate by a laser fire, thus limiting injuries to the wearer. Epaulettes are integrated into the jacket. Captains and lieutenants wear silver epaulettes, while Colonel White, Spectrum's commander-in-chief, wears gold epaulettes.
The armoured jacket is worn over a body suit. This body suit is made of synthetic rubber, with micropores, making this a 'breathable suit'. Polymer filaments makes the suit highly resistant to any hazard (be it extreme high temperature, weather beating, tearing, etc.). An additional 'anti-toxin' membrane has been integrated to the suit, in order to counter the possible absorption of nerves gas through the skin. Despite all these features, the body suit is comfortable to wear and allow freedom of movements. The combat boots are tough, but very flexible. They are made of high-impact polymer shin-shields. The soles are charge-resistant.
Combat cap
The combat cap, sporting the Spectrum emblem, is also personalised to the colour of the wearer. It is made of NeoCarb polymer, protecting the wearer much like a helmet.
The cap comes with an integrated communication device, in the form of speakers mounted inside the rigid cap, and of a 'drop-down' microphone', attached to a rigid wire, which is stowed in the rim of the transparent visor. Whenever the officer needs to make radio contact, the wire falls down to put the microphone into place before his mouth. When receiving a call, two rapid pulses of light from the mike informs the wearer that a call is coming through and that it is about to drop into speaking position. The light pulses are colour-coded, indicating the identity of the caller (Colonel White, Captain Blue, etc.).
This can be turned off by the wearer, at any time. A drop-down visor also comes with the cap, giving image intensification and magnification for night-vision and surveillance. This visor is also equiped with the Visual Information and Sensitory Optical Repay unit (VISOR). With this device, visual data, such as images, graphics and text can be related to the agent in the fied, directly from Lieutenant Green's workstation in Central control. Generally, officers don't wear their cap on Skybase. Communication is then made via bluetooth earpiece or the Spectra-Tech.
Utility belt
An utility belt is worn over the jacket. It can be used to carry an range of portable weapons, tools or any accessories needed by the officer for missions. For more information, see Utility belt. The belt buckle sports the Spectrum emblem. Captains and lieutenants wear a silver buckle, while Colonel White wears a gold buckle. The standard side-arm hangs from the belt, holding into the thigh holster by magnetic clamps. It can either hangs from the right or left side, depending of the wearer's favoured hand. See Standard Issue Side-arm. |
